Distrust (Smirnov Bratva Book 1) Kindle Edition
She was there, then she wasn’t.
She would play with my emotions like a well-played guitar.
Then she would disappear. Making me want to strangle her.
Maybe she wasn’t a ghost, maybe she was the giver of sin. Because we sinned every time we touched, every time she was near.
Her lips were shaped like a heart, deceiving you at every word.
Her body was created straight from my fantasies, one I craved to bend to my will.
Her heart, well, who the hell knew. She kept that shit locked tight.
And I couldn’t find the key.

This is Kazier and Elina's book.
Kazier Smirnov is a russian mob boss, an alpha, ruthless.
He and his men are the typical mob, they drink vodka like water, solve their problems with fists, knives or guns.
He sees Elina and wants her, like WANTS her.
She's very mysterious, has secrets and vanishes all the time. Nobody knows her.
Kazier is obsessed with her.
He becomes Pakhan and his father orders him to marry a unknown, Freya. He gets engaged but then Elina shows up.
This book had me at the edge of my seat the whole time, I couldn't put it down.
Distrust is a brilliant read!
I loved the characters and I loved T.L. Smith's words.
Favorite Quote: "Normal people have no idea how beautiful the darkness is. "
5 Stars and Thank you T.L. Smith !!
Kaizer and Elina meets at his cousin’s club and he is instantly obsessed with her. Elina is secretive and for good reason. They meet up a few times and have intimate relations.
Kaizer has been paired up with Freya (whom I liked better than Elina), in an arranged marriage. Kaizer is so smitten with Elina that he can’t see straight nor think straight. This leaves Freya neglected and angry.
Elina lures in Kaizer every time, with her sexy voice and body. However, she has secrets, which is why she never tells Kaizer anything personal about herself. After 2 years of them seeing each other, he still didn’t know her last name.
The only person who cares for Elina (as far as her family are concerned) is her brother Maso. He’s her saving grace.
Kaizer’s family has an ongoing dispute or war with the man (Pitrov) and his family (the Bartalotti family), that his Grandmother used to be involved with and her death is what keeps them at odds with each other. The readers aren’t given any information as to why she was killed. Not to mention that Kaizer and his father are always at odd, because of Elina.
The way that this book ends (ON A CLIFFHANGER) is interesting and now I’m forced to purchase the second book in this series (Disbelief). Although Death was more than strange, I found that I liked his character more than I did Kaizer’s. It was strange how a man so opposed to people took an almost instant liking to Elina’s blind friend Pollie. Now there’s a story behind Death and why he is the way that he is and… I’m geared up to find out what it is. On to the next book (Which is Death’s story).
Buy the book- you won't be sorry you did.
In the beginning, the writing is a bit dry, hard to get into. The peek into characters, their development if you will, gave me a focus and I wanted to know more. Specifically, I wanted to know more about Elina. At first, I thought of her as a femme fatale, but that was short lived. She has so much depth and it will be missed if you skim read. I found myself going back several pages, re-reading every word and gaining an appreciation for her story and Kazier as well. There ending in this book might be happy for now, but will history between the Families repeat itself? Too many unanswered questions remain, but will likely be answered later in this series.
This book isn't exactly a stand alone. It does provide the introduction to the series and relevant characters. Overall, it's a good story and interesting beginning. There isn't much romance, there is lots of violence but what do you expect from a fictional series about Russian & Italian Mafia?
